From the Third Quest in the Secrets of Arret:
“Once there was a great battle between the Navitons and the Whazonras. The sorceress gave our king a powerful medallion. He killed our enemies, but many fought in the sky. After the sorceress witnessed the destruction in both lands, she cursed the people, reducing them. Too small to lift their weapons, They scattered across the land.
“The sorceress took a piece from Naviton, and another from Whazonra. She hid them inside the medallion. She foretold an innocent stranger from another world could change the future. Crystal fragments from the medallion will create a whole. Once a leader is chosen, our people can be released from the curse.” ©A.Nation 2021
About a fourteen year old girl immigrating to American in 1904 from her point of view and the hardships she endured - Annie's Journey
Nathan and his friends set upon another journey into the mountains. The road is rough and strange events occur. An old castle carved from the cliff beckons him. When a spirit demands his crystals, he can only see the past. A murderer is still in their mist. Alice finds new evidence toward a previous murder.
Over 54K into this third epic, more is yet to come.
I finished nano at 50,019 words but the story has more to come. Can Nathan handle his new responsibilities? Will another murder occur? Will the murderer be found out?
Watch as I develope the Eye of the Kingdom.
It's going a little slower this year but I'm up to 37,278 words. I have three events flowing through the story, Nathan wants to find his role on a strange planet, His mother uncovers evidence that might free her friend, Will a murderer be exposed? Will Gothur move in on Nathan's girl again? Nathan is now leading his troop into the mountains for new discoveries.
Nathan and a shaman, miles apart, have the same dream. The crystals, Nathan and his father returned to Arret, are apart of something larger. The librarian and historian discover an unique side to one of the crystals. Nathan and his family head into the country to bring Robert back. Did Robert kill the alien or did someone else do it? Will ViTel have trouble with the natives near the railroad? All is possible.
Let's see how far I can write in Day 1.
Nathan started as a teen in Eye of the Matrix. He grew into a semi-leader with his father in Eye of the Throne. When he sees ghosts or visions from the planet's past, he doubts himself. His conflicts lie with an unknown future, his girl friend's friendship with an alien, and loyalties to his family. Now, he and his family are heading into the mountains again to return their friend back to Mars. Will he leave the planet or stay and follow his destiny?
Shirley, his girlfriend, was born on an alien ship. She lived on Arret as a child until her parents returned to Mars. Now she's part of the crew but still has to prove herself. Women are still not appreciated on this backward planet. When she befriended one of the locals, Nathan wasn't happy about it. She wants to become independent but the culture toward women is far behind Earth's.
Alice, Mike, Gothur, ViTel, and Poppi still play important roles in this Quest series.
Nanowrimo begins next month, 50,000 words in 30 days. I've been making notes on the third Quest book, Eye of the Kingdom. We last left Nathan drawn into the history of the planet. A journey to the countryside brings Robert to the station to take him back to Mars to complete his sentence in the death of an alien. But did he really do it? Now, Nathan has to choose between his destiny with the planet or the loyalty to his family. If he stays, will Shirley stay with him or say goodbye? Will conflict arise again with his nemesis over who shall rule? So many possibilities. I can hardly wait to get started.
