(Book 6 of 9) I don't recall how Desert Shock came to me, but I was looking for a good detective story I could continue with my character in my Domino Sagas. Since I live in Arizona, I chose Tucson as Alex Blackhawk's place of work with the police department. He commutes from a smaller town, Tuba City. Some of my stories come from the news. I had read of a terrible murder that occurred in Idaho and decided to use some of the details in my fictional account. Three murders take place and somehow my detective always ends in Washington D.C. At the time I wrote Desert Shock (Saga 6), I read about a crime that took place in Idaho. Since I needed another story for my SF series, I adapted some of the news report into this crime retelling. My main character is a Tucson police officer in the 25th century and how police procedures don't change much in 300 years.
